Many Doctor Who celebrities donated recipes to the volume including Ian Marter and Lalla Ward. Written by Stephen Wyatt, who penned two scripts for the Sylvester McCoy era, Me & Him & WHO is a two-hander Christopher Guard plays JN-T and Peter Noble is Gary Downie. Downie was the author of the mid 1980s book The Doctor Who Cookbook. With his partner Gary Downie, who’d also worked on the show as a production manager, his final years were spent in Brighton, where this drama takes place. He will be sadly missed by Barry and his many friends and colleagues. Towards the end of his life, he tried to write his autobiography but always fell at the final hurdle, whether it was because of his partner, Gary Downie’s cancer, or his own drink-related illness, or just a reluctance to bite the BBC hand that once fed him. Gary Downie shared a home with Nathan-Turner in Saltdean, Brighton. Gary, passed away peacefully on 19th January 2006. Personal life ĭownie died on 19 January 2006, having survived Nathan-Turner who died in 2002. ĭownie also worked on I, Claudius, All Creatures Great and Small and Star Cops.
Career ĭownie had previously been a dancer and alongside Adrian Le Peltier he occasionally accompanied Pan's People between 19, in Happening for Lulu, the Bobbie Gentry Show and Top of the Pops.

Roderick Gary Downie Pinkus (17 July 1940 – 19 January 2006) was a South African-born English production manager on many 1980s episodes of the long-running science fiction television series Doctor Who, and partner of its producer John Nathan-Turner. The Doctor Who cookbook / Gary Downie illustrated by Gail Bennett. John Nathan-Turner and his partner Gary Downie were treated like 'rock stars' by impressionable fans and shamelessly took advantage.
